“We have the best people,” Ashley said to us as we bid her and Mike goodbye amidst the fading smoke and occasional glint of fire from a rogue sparkler.
We had to agree.
From start to finish, Ashley and Mike’s wedding was a personal affair, a true reflection of them and the community of love that surrounds and supports them. Just about every guest was in some way involved in their wedding, be it in a musical performance or as a speaker in their heartfelt hilltop ceremony at the Montague Retreat Center.
Not that we were surprised. We knew this would be a good one as soon as we heard their engagement story.
Mike proposed to Ashley after a long hike to a scenic spot in the mountains. He had hidden an antique typewriter in his backpack and carried it the whole way. When they reached their destination, he surprised her with a typewritten note asking, “Will you marry me?”
